Do something nice for yourself. Treating yourself to a movie, nice meal or new outfit can certainly cheer you up. You do not want to fix one problem and end up dealing with something else that is just as serious.

Spend some time at your local library. Sometimes you want quiet time where you can be alone, but isolating yourself is not a good idea. Going to the library is a great idea. You will have peace and quiet, but you will not be alone at a time when you are feeling vulnerable. If you are not a big reader, most libraries have Internet computers that are available for the public to use.

Write down everything you are feeling on a piece of paper. Write the positive things on one side and the negative on the other. Toss out the negative portion and focus on everything you wrote on the positive side. This may seem easier said than done, but focusing on the good things in your life won’t give you much time to think about the bad.

Do some volunteer work in your community. There are many organizations out there that can use the help, and you will feel good knowing that you are helping others. If you have no idea what charities are seeking help, the Internet is a valuable resource. You don’t have to do volunteer work for countless hours, but donating a few hours of time per week can put you in much better spirits.
